Organize your work by customer

If you work job by job — a car in the bay, an event next weekend, a yard across town — the first question is always who’s this for? Attaching a customer to your lists turns a pile of task lists into something you can look up by client, with their whole history in one place.

The video uses service trades — auto glass, catering, landscaping — but this works for any job-by-job business.

Who can do this: everyone can create a customer and attach it to their lists, on every plan. Editing a customer’s details and importing a CSV are Admin/Root.

Steps

  1. Add a customer from the Customers page. Open Customers in the sidebar and tap New Customer (or + on mobile). All it needs is a name — phone, email, address, and notes are optional, and you can add them anytime.

  2. Import your whole roster from a spreadsheet. Moving customers over from another tool? On the Customers page, choose Import and drop in a CSV. You don’t have to match our column names — Ziptask auto-detects common headers (Company / Business / Client for the name, Cell / Tel for phone, and split City / State / Zip columns joined into one address). Review the preview, leave Skip customers that already exist checked so re-running a file won’t make duplicates, and import. (CSV import is Admin/Root.)

  3. Or create one on the fly from a list. You don’t have to set customers up first. In the Create list modal, use the Customer field and start typing — if they already exist, pick them; if not, choose Create “name” and it makes the customer and attaches them in one tap. Next job for the same customer, start typing and select them.

  4. See a customer’s whole history. On a customer’s page, a Contact card shows their details — with tap-to Call, Email, and Directions for a crew out on a job — and the Projects and Task Lists tabs show every job you’ve done or are doing for them, each linking straight to it. That’s your whole history with a client, at a glance, without searching a single title.
