Navigation

Overview

There are two ways to move around Ziptask:

  • Sidebar (left) — the full navigation. It’s always visible on desktop and tablet; on phones a menu button in the top bar opens it as a drawer. Everything lives here: task lists, customers, projects, teams, reports, settings, Help & Support, and sign out.
    • On the Free plan, the account owner (Root) also sees the features other plans unlock, greyed out with a small lock, so the sidebar mirrors the full product. Tapping a locked item opens a short message explaining what the feature does and which plan includes it, with a button to start the free trial or upgrade. On a paid plan the sidebar shows only the features that plan includes — nothing is greyed out. Other members always see only the features their plan and role include.
  • Bottom bar (phones only) — a quick-access tab bar for the most-common destinations, always within thumb’s reach.

The mobile bottom bar

The bottom bar shows only the tabs a member can actually use, so it adapts to the account’s plan and the member’s role:

TabWhen it appears
DashboardAlways
CustomersOn by default on every plan; hidden only if a Root turns it off
Task ListsAlways
CalendarOn Starter plan and above (needs the Recurring Lists feature)
ProfileAlways — opens the member’s own profile

So a Free member sees four tabs (Dashboard, Customers, Task Lists, Profile); Starter and above adds Calendar for five. The bar is hidden on desktop/tablet (the sidebar is always there) and for superuser accounts.

Support notes

  • Customers is a basic organizing feature that’s on for every plan by default — not a paid upsell. A Root can turn it off in Feature Flags, which also removes its tab.
  • Calendar appears only on Starter and above (it rides the Recurring Lists feature). That’s why a Free member won’t see a Calendar tab (see feature-flags.md).
  • Anything not on the bottom bar is always reachable from the sidebar.
