Getting Started

Overview

When you finish creating an account, Ziptask drops you on a Welcome page that points you at the core loop and the how-to guides. Its main button, Create your first list, starts a short “How it works” walkthrough — four plain-language steps that explain how work moves through Ziptask before you build anything real.

The walkthrough covers:

  1. Create a list — a task list is a group of tasks (a job or a routine, like a closing checklist or a cleaning route).
  2. Add tasks to your list — each list holds one or more tasks, the individual steps your team checks off.
  3. Pick up a task — tapping Pick up on a to-do task moves it to In progress so everyone can see who’s on what.
  4. Mark it as done — tapping Mark as done moves the task to Done.

At the end, a Create a list button opens the real new-list form so you go straight from understanding the flow to building your first list.

The welcome page and walkthrough are available to every signed-in member on every plan. There is no feature flag.

How it works

  • The Create your first list button on the welcome page opens the task list page with the walkthrough on top.
  • Step through it with Next / Back, jump between steps with the dots, or leave any time with Skip.
  • Each step shows a small sample list (“Closing checklist”) where one task moves down through the To do → In progress → Done sections, so the status flow is shown the way it actually looks on a list.
  • The final step’s Create a list button closes the walkthrough and opens the new-list form in place — the same form the New List button opens.
  • Skipping goes straight to the task list page. You can start a list any time from New List.
  • Once you have no lists yet, the empty task list page shows a How it works button that reopens the walkthrough — so a member can replay it any time, not just on first sign-in.
  • Using the app after signing up in a browser: the sign-up/onboarding link opens in the phone’s web browser, so you finish signed in there. If you also installed the Ziptask app, the welcome page shows a short note: you can keep working right in the browser, or open the app and sign in with the same email and the password you just created — it’s one account either way. (The welcome email repeats this.) The note only appears in the browser, not inside the app.

Support notes

  • The walkthrough is purely explanatory — it never creates anything on its own. Nothing is saved until the member fills in and submits the real new-list form at the end.
  • The step wording mirrors the app’s real buttons and statuses exactly (Pick up, Mark as done, and the To do → In progress → Done states), so what a member reads matches what they’ll see on a list.
  • The walkthrough is available in English and Spanish, following the account/app language.
